The Mission
In line with the broader Reggio Hub project, the mission is to attract talented individuals to the region of Reggio Emilia, to show them the city and its services, and to help them into the world of work, while stimulating collaboration between talented individuals and companies, pure innovation and the growth of the city’s business landscape. After an application and selection phase, the challenge will take place in person in early November in Reggio Emilia.
Who is it for?
The Challenge is aimed at highly specialised talented individuals who have at least started a post-diploma study course (three-year degree, single-cycle degree - specialisation course, master’s) or who have finished one, with no age limits.
Reggio Hub – Call For Talents is an initiative by the Municipality of Reggio Emilia, carried out with the technical-scientific support of Fondazione REI and the contribution of several local companies.
The companies supporting the Call for Talent 2025
Challenge 1: New mobility and individuals in the smart cities of the future
Scenario: The new mobility services of the future will be characterized by an interconnected network of vehicles and infrastructure, both digital and physical, which will enable the continuous exchange of data between them, with traffic lights and parking lots, for example, to optimize traffic and mobility management, reduce emissions, and improve road safety. The socio-environmental impact, in addition to optimizing routes and reducing unnecessary waiting times, will also be conveyed by the integration with physical networks of the vehicles themselves, for example for the exchange and distribution of energy, waste, or other scarce resources. Municipalities will develop innovative services to manage this transformation, promoting sustainable and inclusive mobility. The role of citizens will change accordingly, establishing a new dialogue with the city and the community in which they live, providing useful information for decision-making processes and benefiting from more efficient, safer, and environmentally friendly modes of transport, transforming the relationship between individuals and the urban environment into a dynamic and conscious collaboration.
Â
Challenge: Develop mobility solutions and related services in the cities of the future, considering the growing need for digital and physical interconnection between vehicles, individuals, and institutions. Participants must demonstrate strong organizational and project management skills and a focus on the successful completion of the project on time and within budget.
In addition, the ability to use and leverage available public data, integrating it with other sources to propose innovative and sustainable solutions, will be essential. Candidates must therefore demonstrate good data analysis skills, showing how data processing and interpretation can generate value for the optimization of mobility services, the reduction of environmental impact, and the improvement of urban quality of life.
Challenge #2: Welfare, sanitary assistance and social inclusion
Scenario: Over the next 10 years, digital technologies and artificial intelligence will radically transform the way we live, work, and care for others. An aging population and growing social challenges will lead to a focus on health, well-being, and personalized support for vulnerable people. Social and cultural relationships will be redefined by advanced digital tools such as smart care platforms, augmented reality for rehabilitation, and predictive systems for preventive healthcare. The evolution of the socio-economic scenario, with a growing number of families below the poverty line in a country with a high average age, will make it more difficult for the public sector to absorb the entire cost of healthcare. Society will tend to value authenticity, real connection, and a sense of community, promoting inclusion, equity, and social sustainability. Work and care for people will become increasingly flexible and supported by technologies that facilitate collaboration, access to resources, and overall well-being, with a particular focus on the quality of life of older or vulnerable people.
Challenge: Designing innovative solutions that guarantee well-being and social, environmental, and economic sustainability in welfare and healthcare services for the population, with particular attention to the most vulnerable groups. Participants must demonstrate empathy and the ability to identify with the real needs of users, together with solid project management and problem-solving skills to ensure the success of their proposals. The use and exploitation of public data, combined with good data analysis skills, will also be essential in order to identify critical issues, anticipate scenarios, and develop sustainable, effective, and inclusive solutions.
